Course Objective & Overview

Diagnostic ability is essential for successfully applying any treatment approach. This class is designed to provide a strong foundation — or a thorough review — for providers who treat, or wish to treat, lower-extremity conditions with ESWT or any other interventions, for that matter.

Instruction covers a comprehensive review of pertinent evaluation and examination criteria. Supportive and rehabilitative approaches will also be discussed, demonstrated, and practiced throughout the 15-hour class. A research review for each lower extremity region opens the discussion of appropriate treatment approaches — both with ESWT and through other means.

ESWT is not meant to replace a clinician's skills, but rather to enhance what they are already doing. Strong diagnostic skills remain essential. This class should significantly improve attendees' ability to assess the lower extremities and better prepare them to diagnose neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Ample time is provided for hands-on practice to ensure successful integration from day one.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Anatomy review

  • Muscle and neurological testing

  • Orthopedic testing

  • Special conditions

  • Supportive & rehabilitative approaches

  • Region-specific research reviews
